The world's most loved dancer is at the top of his game. Having left the world of ballet to explore other areas of dance, his work is filled with investigation and ingenuity. The London Coliseum is premiering five exciting new works featuring
Acosta. Following
Danza Contemporanea de Cuba's
George Cespedes sell out at
Sadler's Wells, the company has commissioned a new piece for Acosta. This is followed by one of the renowned choreographer
Russell Maliphant's pieces, made famous by
Sylvie Guillem. Principal dancer at the
Royal Ballet,
Zenaida Yanowsky, will join Acosta for a third piece by
Edwaard Liang of
New York City Ballet, and finally, Acosta himself has choreographed an exciting new work in collaboration with Cuban violinist
Omar Puente and emerging digital media artists. This final part is Carlos' first piece
since his extremely popular
Tocororo and it reveals an extensive examination into the possibilities of his virtuoso physicality. If
beauty, immaculate craft and ingenuity are of any interest, we recommend going to see
Acosta!
NB: runs till 07/08.
